FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY BOOK
BY ERIK ROLAND
FLUVIAL

«In Roland’s photography, I am observing bird feathers and I notice moss on the stones, beaks, claws, coral and the ripples on the surface of the water after a sudden downpour. Here I see porous bone structure, a seabed, chaotic fragility and fossils – evidence of a past we did not know about – and hair or fur from an animal that we believed only existed in fiction but which has proven to be real. And I see formations that do not have a name, and don’t need one either. The tension in the rhythmic shapes, with their regularities and deviations, are impressive on their own, and don’t need words to describe them.»
– Terje Nordy, playwright, author & mythologist

The photographs appeal to our imagination and fantasies of nature abstractions. Roland’s professional knowledge of how water digs and shapes the landscape is clearly seen in the picture language. It gives us sensuous encounters with something that seems to originate from ancient times. FLUVIAL is a lavish production and a treasure in any photo collection:
